P.E and Sport

At St Breward School PE is very important to us, we aim to ensure pupils are physically active and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Our P.E. lessons are varied and fast paced.  The children take part in a range of games, dance, gymnastics and swimming activities.

We regularly attend inter school festivals to promote fair play, sportsmanship, developing skills and promoting a love for sport. These festivals also benefit staff through high quality CPD opportunities.

After schools are well attended by a range of children and this year we have been lucky to be joined by Plymouth Argyle for out football training.

To encourage children to be as active as possible throughout the school day, we have morning active breaks including wake and shake, team games, daily mile and key skill activities,

Sports leaders are excellent role models and valuable members of the school. They help to promote physical activity and sports throughout the school. The leaders arrange games and activities for all ages during break times and lunch times. Sports leaders feedback pupils voice during regularly meeting with Miss Simpson and help to make decisions regarding after school clubs, sports day and maintain the sports board to provide relevant information to pupils.

The school provides swimming lessons for children in KS2. The children attend Camelford leisure centre weekly for 6 weeks. We are passionate about helping all children to meet the expectation to swim 25m by the end of key stage 2.

Miss Simpson is our PE coordinator and is very proud of the positive attitude presented by the children towards PE and sport. Our small school make a big effort to engage with and enjoy PE.

Sports Day 2023
We had a fantastic sunny Sport Day, the children competed in their teams to complete a range of events, that had been planned by the Sports Leaders. It was great to see all children having fun, working together and showing determination and great sportsmanship.

Well done to the winners Red Team! A special mention to those children who received an aware for being a Sports Day Star!

 Netball Success
The school netball team attended a MAT netball competition, where they played against 7 other teams. They finished top of their group and won their semi-final and final games, being crowned the winners.
We were very proud of their determination, team work and attacking and defending skills. Well done!
